NewsWhip Cookie Policy

NewsWhip uses “cookies” in conjunction with our websites and Services (including newswhip.com; spike.newswhip.com; and analytics.newswhip.com) to collect certain information and to make our sites work properly.

1. What are cookies?

A cookie is a small piece of data (text file) that a website you visit asks your browser to store on your device (e.g. your phone or your computer) in order to remember information about you. Cookies are widely used in order to make websites work, or to remember information about your visit to the website, which can make it easier to visit the website again and to make the website more useful to you. Please read this policy carefully to ensure that you fully understand how and why NewsWhip uses cookies and related technologies.

2. NewsWhip Cookies and Third Party Cookies

NewsWhip may place our cookies on your device via our sites and Services. Accordingly, our Privacy Policy will apply to our treatment of the information we obtain via our cookies. We also use third-party cookies (i.e. cookies form a domain different than the domain of the website you are visiting) for our advertising and marketing efforts). For example, we use Google Analytics including Google Signals for web analytics, and so Google may also set cookies on your device. Google Analytics will associate the visitation information it collects from our sites with Google information from accounts of signed-in users who have consented to this association for the purpose of ad personalization. This Google information may include end user location, search history, YouTube history, and data from sites that partner with Google—and is used to provide aggregated and anonymized insights into users’ cross device behaviors. Your data may be accessed and/or deleted via My Activity.

There are two types of cookies used on our sites and Services – “persistent cookies” and “session cookies”. Session cookies will normally expire when you close your browser, while persistent cookies will remain on your device after you close your browser, and can be used again the next time you access our sites and/or Services.

3. Other Technologies

Our sites and Services may also use other technologies with similar functionality to cookies, such as web beacons and tracking URLs to obtain Log Data about users. We may also use web beacons and tracking URLs in our messages to you to determine whether you have opened a certain message or accessed a certain link.

4. Uses for NewsWhip Cookies

NewsWhip uses cookies for a number of purposes, such as the following:

  • to enable, facilitate and streamline the functioning of our sites and Services across different webpages and browser sessions;
  • to simplify your access to and use of our sites and Services and make it more seamless;
  • to monitor and analyze the performance, operation and effectiveness of our sites and Services, so that we can improve and optimize them; and
  • to show you content that is more relevant to you.
